Swansea Historical Society


BACKGROUND

The Society was started in 1985 by a group of people interested in preserving and promoting the history of the Swansea area. It was incorporated as an affiliate to the Ontario Historical Society and is a not-for-profit charitable organization. The Society can issue donation receipts for income tax purposes.

MEETINGS

The Society holds its general meetings at 7:30 in the Rousseau Room at Swansea Town Hall on the first
Wednesday of October, November, December, February, March, April, and May, with a short business meeting followed by a guest speaker, light refreshments and time to reminisce.

WALKS

Our Annual Walk is always held on the first Saturday in June at 1:00 p.m. Watch the Swansea Town Hall website closer to the day for more information on the route and other details of the walk or contact us (see below).

ARCHIVES

The Swansea Historical Society Community Archives is located in the William Small Room on the Ravine Level of the Town Hall. We are always looking for donations of old photographs and memorabilia of the Swansea area.
